Torii Japanese Steakhouse Center in Modesto

Twice I tried to order sushi from this place.. Number one: I called to place an order around 8:45 and they said their sushi “chef” had left already. Number two: I called at 4:30 to place an order, they stated that they only had 2 rolls available, the dragon roll and California roll. I asked why , the kid on the phone said “ he’s new , and Only knows those two. I came back with “ if you know how to make one roll you should know how to make them all.” The kid laughed . Very unprofessional. I will not waste my time or money here again. It sad because this used to be my favorite restaurant

Worst experience ever! Restaurant has gone down hill. Dishes were dirty. Asked for new dishes.. still dirty. Restaurant was dirty. Went for a birthday, ordered sake bombs, and after they bring out all the stuff they tell us all they have no shot glasses and still charged us. Reservation was at 7 30, didnt get seated until after 8. Screwed up several orders. Food was good however. But will never go back.

I would give it zero star if I could! We went for our anniversary and I was extremely dissappointed. The place was nasty! I wanted to leave once I sat down. The tables were sticky it felt like they never been cleaned the tables. The food was not even great. Not even worth my money. And the way they did tricks like tossing food into your mouth and accidentally fell on the stove they still did the trick again. I was so grossed out that it even touched the stove and table before it went back into the mouth. I wouldnt even waste your time our money. I have no idea how they even pass health inspection it is so gross

Is this place currently open or not? The phone number does not work? Yet I see reviews as recent as last week? Does anyone know?

Shirasoni in Stockton is wayyy better. Server was rude, vegetables dont come with brocoli, they dont have the orange yumm yummy sauce. Naura cook was really good and friendly though.

Nice place for delicious japanese food. I can see why they have a lot of great reviews.

Great scene for tasty Japanese food. quick, helpful, and friendly service. it has an awesome feel to it.

Wish I could leave zero stars. Went in with a total party of two and was told it would be a 10 to 15 minute wait. Went to the bar and was served quite quickly. Ended up waiting an extra 30 minutes after the 15 minutes. Finally sat down with another family and the dad and I had some fun conversation and that's what allowed me to give a one star. We sat for a total of an hour and ten minutes baking in the hot room with four hot grills and no air flow. Ended up walking out. We have been going here for 4 years occasionally per year and this was by far the worst. Never coming here again.

This restaurant is amazing and broad, the menu was delicious and the prices were very affordable. quickly, effective service and very affable waiters. I highly recommend this place.

The grill is a great experience for a family outing or going out with friends, great form of entertainment with a meal. The bartenders kept up with the drinks we were ordering with the exception of one they've never heard of. Still made it to the best of their ability, came out great! Would like to be able to be seated without having my full party there.

We had to wait an hour and 20 minutes for to get a chef in front of us after making reservations, and it wasn't even busy! The food portions were okay, the chef was hilarious and made the night fun. The karaoke was super fun!

We have been here a few times and love the food and the staff. They always make the dinner fun. It definitely needs some updating. I read the next week that it has new owners that are doing just that. They closed temporarily to give it a face lift. We are looking forward to seeing what it looks like when it reopens.

This restaurant was just delightful, with great, authentic dishes. I loved the lamb shank and the only thing better than the food was the outstanding and friendly service. I will be taking my family here at the first opportunity.

Japanese food... awesome. great ambiance & decor. nothing but enjoyable experiences here. not close to my job, i wish it was.

It was my first time being here. The staff was amazing and energetic. The food was great.

This is a fun place for kareoke, drinks, and light meals. It is a smaller place, so be sure to get there early, especially if you have a big group coming along!

Sorry to say but this is not a family restaurant if that's what you are looking for. It's straight out a bar it was karaoke night so it was really loud but that's fine because there is people that like this. My real problem was that me and my family were standing there for 25 minutes and no one helped us or pay attention so we just left.

David is a great karaoke dj. The bartender and waitresses are very hospitable and make you feel welcome. Nice patrons too.

I enjoyed the family atmosphere. It is not as loud compared to other sushi restaurants in Modesto, CA. However, the sushi is a little above average and that's it. The tables and chairs are old looking. The owners were very nice and complimenting to our needs. Prices is comparable to others and the location is perfect for a quick sushi run.

Japanese food... my preferred treat. nice place to relax, people watch, eat good, etc. certainly worth going back to.

A fav location for tasty japanese food. Don't fret if it's busy, it is worth the wait. I will be back with my friends. Prices are reasonable I would say. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I loved.

Quite frankly giving them 1 star is kind. The wait wasn’t terrible HOWEVER once we were sat they completely forgot about us, finally when we were noticed and placed our order 3 entire items were forgotten normally soup and salad are brought out in the beginning they were not brought out until we asked for them the server seemed apologetic and went as far as to give my wife a complementary soup and salad as well (which was nice) the chef tried his best to make the experience enjoyable but the place is ran down and in serious need of a remodel food wasn’t terrible but not worth the price that’s for sure! All I’m saying is do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! (DISCLAIMER THE ONLY GOOD PART OF OUR DINNER WAS THE SERVER SHE APOLOGIZED AND WENT AS FAR IS TO GIVE US A FREE DINNER TO MAKE UP FOR THE ITEMS THAT WERE FORGOTTEN WHICH IS WHY IM LEAVING THE 3 STARS!)

Closed for remodeling, but not changed the “open” sign, drove from another city. Disappointed.

It's okay. I love Japanese food and karaoke and this is usually my go to place but it just seems like everyone is rude this time. Karaoke guy is waaaaaaaaay better on Saturday night. Friday guy is just rude as hell. Except Nara the guy who cooks in front of you. He's awesome!!!

Place used to be very good. After trying for 3 days to get a reservation, finally got one and still had to wait a long time to place order and have cook cone to grill. Ginger sauce was horrible.

Always loved this place, especially with my kids! But they have lost their sushi chef and I really miss that!

My top scene for tasty japanese food. There was fast, efficient, and courteous service. The bill was appropriate for the quality. Menu is similar to a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.

We had a great experience in this spot. We liked the excellent ambience and the meals. The staff are super friendly. I am glad we finally decided to visit this place.

They accommodated us super quick, we went early in the middle of the week and it was a pleasant time. The only down side was that there was not any sushi during the week. We had fun & our chef was great.

I love the bartenders... especially the guy named Han. The karaoke is fun there, but the guy in charge of the karaoke is a lair and only puts his regulars first. I waited like an hour after he told me I was "next". Atmosphere and drinks is cool.

Japanese food at this place - very tasty. Service is always timely even when they have a full house. The place has a nice feel to it. Similar to a place in Denver I liked.

What a fun spot! This unassuming place has a down to earth quality about every aspect of it. Enter the door and prepare to be greeted by two energetic ladies making custom sandwiches in a flash. All the choices have a person's name. Orders to go are written on a paper bag, those eating in write it on an index card. Everything is assembled fresh before your eyes and they will build a sandwich to your specifications. Walk outside and in another door to select drinks and dessert.

Their food is pretty awesome Tables walls and ceilings are dirty and sticky The place needs to be updated the staff are very professional and polite but it's time to update the inside .

The blonde hostess was rude and very unprofessional chewed gum like a cow the entire time, other than that initial bad first impression and sitting waiting for a long time for anyone to aknowledge us, will definitely not be coming back

i went once with the FAM. it was fantastic despite me getting a little to tipsy.. food was great. it was a different kind of experience for me. plan to go back and drink less. I did karaoke for my first and only time so far in my life. that was fun. overall a fun and friendly atmosphere=D

Great food and atmosphere! Karaoke every night! If you drink be very aware as there are always sheriff and mpd waiting outside!
